Zachary and Eric head out for a couple of days of one-on-one time. We took Cave Creek road to 93 and then I-40 to California. After Needles, we took old Route 66 through the metropolis of Goffs to Amboy, where we climbed a volcano. Zachary really laughed about Ludlow and kept repeating it throughout our trip, as it only had a gas station and a restaurant. Basically everything else was boarded up. We arrived in Barstow in time for dinner in the middle of a huge thunderstorm with a lot of rain, where the thunder seemed to shake our car. There was a rumored report of a funnel cloud.
