Our United flight path from San Francisco took us over Alaska and Russia, were we saw some very cold and barren land. The Sea of Okhotsk by Russia was frozen solid. We went so far north to miss the jet stream. Then we turned towards Beijing so as to go around North Korea and then headed straight for Hong Kong. An hour out of Hong Kong and just before the sun set, Renée was due west of us. This is the closest we had been to her and it felt odd that we were now flying further away to land in Hong Kong. Tina stated she "wished we could turn the plane right and land in Chongqing. I miss her." The Singapore map seemed best to show the flight path.
