Renée wakes up for the first time with us. She slept very well, waking us up only once.
Renée playing with mama.
With how busy her last 24 hours have been and with her skipped nap yesterday, Renée takes a post-breakfast nap. Even though her schedule from the orphanage did not have this, this nap time has become critical for Renée.
Renée takes five...
Tina checks email while Renée checks out.
Visibility out our hotel window improves and we can actually see beyond our hill.
View of Jialing River in the distance. Still have yet to see the sun.
Good Morning Renée, again...
The Wanyou Conifer Hotel's lobby. From what we have seen, this is one of the nicest hotels in Chongqing.
They are building another bridge across the Yangzi River...
Though the picture is blurry, this is a Chuck-E-Cheeze-like place, with video games. Though we only had time of a couple games, Zachary had a blast. Up until this, Zachary has seen the word Arcade and gotten excited only to find a shopping arcade.
Zachary pushing Renée around. On a hill with a ton of people and wanting to be a perfect brother, he was nervous.
A cool shopping store. Reminded us of the Macy's of San Francisco, in both size and type of clothes. However, it beat Macy's prices. To the right is Liberation Monument.
One can only walk by the Liberation Monument. This area is actually within Chongqing's ancient brick city walls. However, all of the old buildings and much of the wall was destroyed by Japan during their war with China around WWII. During this war, Chongqing was the capitol of China.
Liberation Monument is the primary shopping area in Chongqing.

View from the glass store to the street below.

Tina and Renée shopping.
Before WWII, Chongqing was a walled city. Here we are driving through what used to be a gate.
This is the other side of the wall. The statues (beyond the right-most red lantern) are enacting a battle fought at this wall.
After all that shopping, it is time to eat.
On the side of a hill is a concrete barrier to prevent landslides. The design on it is of Old Chongqing, showing what the city looked like before it was bombed to oblivion.
Heading through a tunnel to get to our hotel.
Eric obviously took this picture of a dump truck - "recording Chongqing for posterity's sake".
Chongqing has three ways to cross a street: an overpass (below), a subway or like Atari's Frogger where they dodge cars.
A shoeshine at work.
We do not know what they are called, but they are everywhere.
Time to celebrate Tina's birthday dinner. Tina got the birthday gift she wanted - Renée. The yellow fruit on Eric's plate is a yellow watermellow...quite good. We have tried many kinds of foods; some we like. Looks like Zachary is analyzing his right now.
Tina's birthday cake as prepared by the hotel staff.
Restaurant manager Tim, hostess Juice and the baker brought the cake and sang Happy Birthday in pretty-good English.
After Tim had Tina cut the first slice, he proceeded to serve the cake. It was very good. Just don't ask Renée as she did not get any.
Renée and Tina get ready for some shopping at the department store next door. Zachary and Eric tagged along ;-)
