We took off from a rainy Guangzhou and flew the China carrier China South airlines to take us to Hong Kong. This thirty minute flight had some nice turbulence, which really threw people around. We later found out that our lower altitude of 20000 feet can be much more turbulent.

We boarded a United 747 for the flight to San Francisco. Right after boarding the plane but before we left the gate, we tried to entertain Renée with stickers. Well, the sneaky little girl swallowed one that we missed and started gagging and then throwing up. Best guess is that it got stuck on her Uvula. After a couple minutes which seemed like an eternity, the flight attendant saw and grabbed the sticker and Renée was fine. The first thought that goes through one's mind can be an odd one - Eric's was 'we are going to kill her before we even leave China'. Other than the fact that Zachary and Renée had difficulty sleeping on this 11 hour flight, it went well.

We landed in San Francisco airport at 9:14am pst - and Renée became a U.S. citizen. In her honor, she filled her shorts and we could not change her until after customs - ahhhhh! We now know that dirty shorts do not speed up the line. With clean shorts, we made the next flight as the last standby people to be allowed on the flight. We all had to sit in completely separate seats, with Eric holding Renée. Renée was great for her dad and slept most of the flight. Zachary also did really awesome, sitting all by himself especially after this VERY long day.
