Fu, Ai Jun's Development Report

1. Arrival at the Orphanage:
Fu, Ai Jun, female, was found on 2-22-2004 in front of the gate of Fuling District No. 1 Social Welfare Institute. Since no one claimed her, Fuling No. 1 Social Welfare Institute took her in. When she was found, she was lying in a bamboo backpack, wearing a grey cotton coat and pants, wrapped with a blanket. No notes were found attached to her.
When Fu, Ai Jun first entered the institute, her height was 47cm, her weight was 3 kg, her head size was 34cm and her chest size was 33cm. According to her physical condition, we estimated her birthday to be 2-20-2004. We named her Fu, Ai Jun. "Fu" stands for the social welfare institute. "Ai" means love which expresses our love to her. "Jun" is a nice name for a girl. During the first week after she entered the institute, her appetite was fine. She drank about 80ml of formula, and she slept about 19 hours a day. According to a physical check-up and our observation, she was determined to be a normal infant.

3. Physical and Mental Developments:
Fu Ai Jun 's physical and mental developments are normal. At one month old, she slept most of the time, she cried if wet or hungry. When needs were met, she would fall back to sleep. She could respond to noises. After one month old, she liked to look at bright places. After being fed, she would stretch a little and move her little mouth a little. She could raise her head to a 45 degree while lying on her stomach. She also could notice grown-ups faces. After two months, her limbs moved a lot. After waking up, she would kick the comforter and wave both hands, when playing with her, she would smile and make "gu gu" sound. She could raise her head to 90 degree while lying on her stomach. At three months, while being held, her head was sturdy, she would smile at you and also follow other moving people with her eyes. She could hold other people's hands. At four months old, she could hold a rattle and could roll over. At five months old, she could sit up from a lying position if you pull her hands. She could hold her head steadily. Now she is six months old. She can sit by herself. She turns her head to look at you if she hears noises. She can hold toys very tightly in her hands. She has started to have stranger anxiety. She liked to play with other people and liked to be held. As soon as you play with her, she would give you a sweet big smile, with her eyes closed. She could also giggle out load. She likes to sit in the walker, and move around inside and outside. Her crying and laughter all make sense. She is very lovely.

4. Daily Routine:
Fu Ai Jun has been cared for at the orphanage and received formula. She has received very good care from the caregivers. She has good eating and sleeping habits. She has three main caregivers who works on shift and takes care of her 24 hours a day. She has her own crib. She goes to sleep after the light is turned out. She usually gets up at 7:00 a.m. and takes a nap from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and takes another nap from 5:00p.m.to 5:30 p.m. She goes to bed at 8:30p.m. Before she turned three months, she drank milk. After three months, she has started formula (Nestly Brand) mixed with rice cereal. She also receives vitamin and minerals. Now she has started vegetable juice, egg yolk and soy cereal. She drinks formula 5 to 6 times a day and each time about 150ml. Her first bottle is at 8:00 a.m.. She drinks again after that every three to four hours. She has bowel movement two to three times a day and she urinates eight to ten times a day. She wears diapers. She takes a bath every morning. In summer time, she also takes a bath at night before she goes to bed.

5. Personalities:
Fu Ai Jun has outgoing personalities. She has soft skin, and a pair of beautiful eyes and a lovely little mouth. She likes to smile. She is very active and lovely. She is especially interested in toys that make noises, but she dislikes hairy toys or things. She likes to listen to music and watch TV. She likes to move her walker to the place where there are many other children. She is closest to her caregivers.

6. Immunization Shots:
Fu Ai Jun has received timely immunization shots. The immunization shots include those of BCG, Hepatitis B, Polio, DPT and epidemic encephalitis.
