July 2, 2005 - Eric and Renée take a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona to visit her Grandma Sue and Grandpa Ray Chester for the first time. These are their dogs: Cookie (the younger brain-dead one) on the left and Kari (the dominant killer dog).

Renée has made it. It was a long trip. After the 2 hour flight (for which we were delayed an additional hour before takeoff), we had a 4 hour drive to Flagstaff through Payson, so as to avoid forest fires. Renée did well and was quite tolerant of the trip, until the last hour. Now she is a free lady.
Oh look Dad, flowers!
In Mandarin, flower is 'Hua' (pronounced who-a). Renée pronounces them as 'how'. She loves flowers.
July 3rd - A girl must eat too.
Walking a lake in country club area with grandma and grandpa.
Tadpoles!!!
Renée has partially dissected the flower in her hand.
Pretty girl.
Asleep girl. We got to the car all to find that she had secretly covered her face and had fallen asleep. The previous picture before was literally a minute before this. Too much fun.
On the way back from the lake, everyone but Renée saw these Elk. Renée was more interested in untying her shoes.

Nap time is over. Please get me up. However, keep me protected from those mean killer beasts. Kari and Cookie wanted to play with Renée in a way that Renée was not used to. But other than stealing her toys, they never came close to harming or even bumping her.
July 4th - Dad, I can safely watch the 'Da' (a.k.a. dog) from the safety of this reinforced screen door.
More flowers!!!
Last time for flowers before we drive back down to Phoenix and fly home to San Mateo. Ironcally, we were deplayed almost 2 hours on our return flight. Renée did really well and never got fussy - but she did not fall asleep until almost 10pm, when we were will into our flight.
July 5th - At home in San Mateo, Tina prepared sausages, noodles and zucchini. Zachary found this one which had a face on it. Boy, is Tina a creative cook or what!!!!
Look, I can dunk a baby in water.
Look, I can copy Zachary - SLAM DUNK.
July 13th - Zachary is excitedly getting ready to head to cousins camp in Arizona. He will fly by himself to Phoenix to be with his Grandma and Grandpa Wright for nearly a week. His two other cousins will also be there for tons of fun. Renée stayed with boring Mom and Dad.

This is a cute pose with Zachary and Renée.

Wooops!!! Where is Renée? And why are two shoes in the air?
