Trip to Gold Beach
Trip to Gold Beach Gallery
On November 23, 2005, Ryan, Roo, Eric, Tina, Zachary and Renée headed up 101 to visit the Gold Beach, Oregon Chesters. While there were no pictures of the trip up, it is to be assumed that it actually happened. The following day, Uncle Bob got out his toys. Zachary got his first ride on a motorcycle - glad that Tina was not around for this.
Next came the Spud Gun. Using hair spray as the propellant, a bunch of pvc pipe, a barbecue igniter and (of course) potatoes, we (hmmm, I mean Uncle Bob) launched potatoes to glorious heights. In summary, totally awesome!!!
Thanksgiving day would have been the wedding anniversary day for grandma. We surprised her with flowers and a card. Though difficult, we were finally able to get her photo next to them.
Though not privy to this conversation, it appears that Aunt Nancy is showing the ladies to the door. Guess she has had enough Thanksgiving fun.
While one should not overly read into the photo, but Roo appears to be wondering "now, why on earth did I go to visit Ryan's in-laws?".
The table, pre-carnage.
Now, Ryan tells HIS version of the story of how he gave Roo the promise ring. Very caveman-like.
Roo does not appear to agree with his tale.
Has Ryan's diversion been foiled?

Ok, give me a photo of who you are...
Now a photo of who we think you should be...
...don't ask...

The following images contain extreme adult content, language, "the finger" (which was captured on another camera), and other abuses which are unbecoming of Thanksgiving. Viewer discretion is advised.

I give you game called PITT.
Left to right:
Aunt Nancy (Uncle Bob's wife), Ryan (hidden - which is hard to do), Roongrat, Eric, Renée (who was overly helpful), Amy (Eric's cousin), Tony (hidden or sleeping - Amy's husband), Uncle Bob (Eric's Dad's brother), and Grandma with Tina taking the photo.

Sisters?
Grandma killed Eric after he took this photo. But, it seemed fitting.
Renée is teaching Roo how to read.
On this trip, we discovered that seagulls are to San Francisco as deer are to Gold Beach.
...who took this photo...

After everyone nearly had a mutiny against the driver, we made it to the metal bridge - car sick but sound.

Feeding the endogenous creatures.

Roo's snack, which was smashingly delicious.
Yes dear, I'll have some more...

Renée, you are too helpful.
I'm helping. Wait, that's not how I would do that.

Pinning Grandma down for these photos was the single greatest act of heroism on Eric's part. Grandma did not want her picture taken and Eric has the scars to prove it.

Whose telling who?

Though Renée's face is hidden, I love the personalities expressed in this photo and wonder what Renée is telling Great Grandma.
Hailey and Zachary posing for a double rainbow. The second bow was too faint.

Hailey (the daughter of Eric's cousin Amy) and Zachary had an absolute blast playing together - rain or shine.

Left Gold Beach on Saturday morning.
In Kalmath, California.
Paul Bunyan & Babe the Blue Ox standing at the Trees of Mystery
Little Paul Bunyan with the Blue Roo.

Clark, the only problem is, he's got a little bit of Mississippi leg hound in him.

A nice sleigh with two kids who cannot smile, priceless.
Elk playing peak-a-boo.
In Eureka.
In a restaurant by the harbor. Food was quite good.

In Fort Bragg.
The deer in the headlights look is them being stalked by a TV.

To the immediate left is glass beach.
An old train trestle that goes to the old abandoned lumber mill.

The main (and only remaining) train entrance to the old lumber mill. To the left (off the photo) is the Skunk train depot.

Glass beach. Used to be the town dump. Now, the ocean has polished the glass. Found a ton of spark plugs, shoes and other things as well.

A crab.

Heading home. This makeshift bridge was to help Highway 1 where it had fallen into the ocean.
